To specify preferences for the behavior of iNotePad, select the iNotePad > Preferences menu item.
Check Main window uses a brushed metal appearance if you prefer the bushed metal appearance used by many Apple Utility (iSync, ...) You need to relaunch iNotePad in order the change to apply.
If you check Always hide iNotePad in background, the iNotepad window will be automatically hidden when iNotePad is not the frontmost application.
Check iNotePad window is always frontmost to force the iNotePad window to float over any other windows. You can also set the transparency of the iNotePad main window when iNotePad is not the frontmost application.
If you check Quit iNotePad before System goes to sleep, iNotePad will quit everytime your system goest to sleep. It will encrypt the database before to quit, if you choose this option in the databases preference below.
Check Store passwords in keychain to tell iNotePad to use your Mac OS X keychain to remember the passwords you use to encrypt your notes. You can override this default setting in the encryption dialog for each note.
In the Check for Update menu, select when iNotePad should check on the Internet if there is a new version available.
To increase or decrease the font size for the notes list, use the List font size popup menu.
If you prefer to use labels as background color instead of text color in the list of notes, check Labels use background color.
When Close folders automatically is checked, iNotePad will close (collapse) any open folder every time you select a new note
You can set the default font which iNotePad uses for new notes using Default font for new notes.
Check Autodetect URLs in notes to automatically turn URLs into clickable links when iNotePad saves the notes.
When Check spelling as you type is checked, iNotePad will spell check every word you type.
If you want iNotePad to set the note title automatically according to the first line of the note, select the prefered option in the popup menu.
Use the popup menu to select the default database iNotePad open on launch.
These settings apply only to the current (open) database.
Check Use a default password for all encrypted notes to define a password that will be used when you encrypt a note. This password will be stored in your keychain.
If you want to encrypt the whole database each time you quit iNotePad or change databases, check Encrypt current database when closing.
Check Don't use Spotlight with this database to prevent Spotlight (Mac OS X 10.4+) from indexing the notes in this database. This option is automatically checked if the database is encrypted. See Spotlight for more.
When Backup this database is checked, iNotePad will backup the current database when you quit the application, or when you change database. Use the popup menu to select when to backup the current database. See Backup for more.
Check Print titles above notes if you want iNotePad to print title above each note. It may also include the titles of parent folders and the name of the database.
When you print multiple notes, check Print each note on a new page to start a new page for each note printed or check Print a separator line between notes to insert a separator line between each printed note.
When Print page numbers is checked, iNotePad will print the page number at the bottom of each page.
Click on Set Margins to change the default printing margins.
